A frozen food manufacturer in Ontario, Canada had a number of logistics issues managing reach that extended to more than 200 lanes and five distribution facilities across Canada, USA and Mexico.
The company approached JDI Logistics to act as lead logistics provider, finding efficiency throughout the entire distribution network. On their behalf, JDI logistics planned and implemented a full Request for Proposal process. More than 300 carriers were screened and over 40 carriers were awarded with the core business. 30 back-up carriers were identified and a new rate structure was put in place. The company integrated JDI Logistics’ Transportation Management Software to streamline information flow and increase supply chain visibility.
Within one year of the partnership, JDI Logistics was able to reduce transportation costs by 4.2 percent, with a further 2 percent decrease in the second year.
